Ebsco training videos

Page history last edited by Anonymous 2 yrs ago

I attended an online workshop for Ebsco (a vendor of databases we have access to through GALILEO). The neatest thing I learned was…… they have training videos that you can link to and not have to go through GALILEO to watch.

I’ve added four of the training videos to my MySpace – they have a video for Auto Repair Reference Center, Basic Search, Advanced Search, Business Source Premier, Consumer Health, etc …… You could add the link to Blackboard – especially the search ones but there are others for specific programs (like Auto).

So where are these videos?

Go to GALILEO- Databases A-Z-Jump to E-Click on Ebsco databases

Open up an Ebsco database

Scroll to the bottom where it says Ebsco Support Site

Click

There is a button marked Training….

(I’ve seen it across the top but just now it was in a line down the middle)

Then select Tutorials- voila-

Open the one you like-

copy and paste the URL where you want (your Blackboard class) and your students can access the video without going through GALILEO-

CAVEAT- Ebsco does try to “sell” you access to the database. Somehow you need to make clear that your students can access the database for “free” through GALILEO.

This is so cool- the videos are short- under three minutes- very similar to what I was doing with CamStudio – but snazzier 
