The Librarians Suggestions

Flip Video

Page history last edited by KLS 1 yr ago

I have already raved about this to two folks- they smiled patiently but did get a little spark as I wound down….

I had not heard about this latest toy (tool, it’s a tool). I read about it on my library list. After watching the video this morning at home - I immediately knew that many faculty would want to have one for their classroom.

I could also see parents and grandparents wanting one for – well, you know for what!

What programs could use this tool:

1. Cosmetology- video a student cutting or curling and show them right there what they are doing- video the instructor and show the whole class

2. Automotive- video a student with their hands on a piece of equipment to demonstrate to them – yes they are doing it correctly (or incorrectly)

3. Allied Health- video a student or an instructor demonstrating a technique- blood pressure, finger sticking, arranging a cart

4. CDL – video a student turning a corner or backing up to show them what happens when they do something

5. Speech- teacher could video a student and show them immediately what they look like

6. Admissions- take quick tours of parts of the school- upload the video to show prospective students what we really look like

7. The Library – to tour parts of the library- we may be small but there is a lot in here that students miss

8. Horticulture- demonstrate the right way to do something

9. Electronics- see above demonstration ideas

10. Paramedics – see above demonstration ideas

See how it plugs into your computer with the USB? Has an internal microphone. So handy – don’t need a VCR or DVD. Make your own teaching clips. Many rooms are equipped with a computer and projector.

RCA Small Wonder costs less than $150 at Wal-Mart http://www.mysmallwonder.com/

Flip Video costs $150 http://www.theflip.com/store/
