This is from the Media Specialists list (LM_NET):
For those librarians working with visually impaired or blind students (and
haven't heard yet), Google now has an "Accessible Search" component for
blind and visually impaired users. Here's the link to try it:

It is a new product but their statement of what the search engine will do
includes:
********************
Accessible Search is an early Google Labs product designed to identify and
prioritize search results that are more easily usable by blind and visually
impaired users. Regular Google search helps you find a set of documents that
is most relevant to your tasks. Accessible Search goes one step further by
helping you find the most accessible pages in that result set.

For the rest of the information about this new Google component, check out:

As a former teacher-librarian for the blind and visually impaired,
this appears to be a great options for Internet searching that definitely
needs to be shared with teachers who have visually impaired or blind
students in their classrooms!
Other Google Lab products can be found at: http://labs.google.com/ There
are lots of unique things to share with your students and teachers if you
introduce Internet searching techniques!
